unique glimpses of flowers

Red + White Roses

LARGE WALL ART - 30 x 48"

Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas.

Currently at Southern Oregon Guild of Artists Galley, Kerby, Oregon

I was captivated by the simple juxtaposition of shy verses bold in this visual contrast of two roses.  Some people are comfortable in the spot light while others prefer to melt into the background in a support role. Both personality behaviors are valuable. Can we respect our differences or is the contrast too uncomfortable? I believe there is beauty in contrast.

Obscure

20 x 20"

Acrylic on canvas, plus frame.

This visual exploration of a St. Jude the Obscure rose from my husband's garden, came from my fascination with the unfolding of an English rose bloom. The twists and turns were so exotic that I wanted to try to capture their mystery.  Discovering the tiny rose hips in the center of the bloom was an extra unexpected joy.

Mystery, Memory and Dreams

Big Sister

10 x 10"

 Acrylic on canvas, plus frame.

Currently at Southern Oregon Guild of Artists Galley, Kerby, Oregon

I'm very blessed to have grandchildren. They are the joy of my life. There are special times with them that so fill my heart that I want to paint my memory of the moment, capturing what I saw comingled with the feelings and sounds.  This was one of those precious moments. Big sister patiently explaining a jump off the step to little sister shivering with excitement.

Vigilant

LARGE WALL ART - 24 x 48"

Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas.

I'm not even sure what this painting is about but I feel the intensity of something happening, as in a dream. The image of the pierced apple comes from many years ago during my college years. It's an important image to me and hovers on the edge of my consciousness. I've drawn and painted it many times over the years. As I began this painting, the bird unexpectedly showed up. I don't know where it came from but it was important, too. Many people have given me their thoughts on the interpretation. I have also entertained  my own interpretations that never seem to quite nail it. But it remains an important and intense visual story that is beautiful to examine.
